I left the base around 1700 and decided to ascend via Fanny Hill in hopes of avoiding the muck resulting from meltage on Beach Seal and Bear Run. I then continued up Schuss for the same reason, turned right up the top of Sherman's Pass and stopped on the deck of the Vista Patrol hut to boot up. I did peek over at the top of Alta Vista, and it didn't look particularly appealing; the pitch may have had more snow, but I wasn't particularly motivated to check. Hard Luck, however, provided an opportunity for some good turns before the coverage petered out and I picked my way across some mud, skied from patch to patch, and then hiked across the flat above lift 2. Beach Seal again had some nice snow, and the overall effort-to-reward ratio had me considering another trip on May 1st.
